We have been nominated for the Sedgemoor Business Excellence Awards in 2022 and have reached the finalist stage.
This nomination is especially important to us as it demonstrates the dedication that we have to the industry, our customers and the community. It especially recognises our hard-working staff and sub-contractors who share a strong commitment to ensuring the business is a success.

We are very proud to announce that Constructs were also recognized by the Sedgemoor Business Excellence Awards in previous years and have been awarded the ‘Construction in Sedgemoor’ award for 2020 and again for 2021.
The Sedgemoor Business Excellence Awards are organised by the Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce and when nominations opened in the summer, we decided to enter again by submitting an entry, detailing our business structure and ethics and provided evidence for a project that we recently worked on in Bridgwater.
It was then in the hands of the judges, who announced the shortlist in October 2021. Finalists were invited to a celebration and awards evening earlier this month where all the award winners were announced.
We would like to congratulate all of the winners and finalists. The awards are a fantastic way to highlight the brilliant local businesses in the area, giving them some well deserved recognition.
A huge thank you must go to all our staff and sub-contractors for their hard work throughout a challenging year. Here’s to 2022!
Our works within Somerset has been a large factor to winning this award for two years running including the works we undertook for Willmott Dixon at Polden Bower School, Bridgwater.

Constructs South West Ltd started working on this project in January 2020, then the Coronavirus pandemic struck. We were able to continue working under strict COVID-19 work safe protocols, set by ourselves and Willmott Dixon, the main contractor. We liaised closely with our suppliers in order to meet our supply deadlines, thus meaning we were able to keep to the programme completion date. This state-of-the-art school provides 160 school places for pupils ages 4 – 16 years with sensory and physical needs, along with support for parents and carers, and merges 2 existing schools in Bridgwater.
All sub-contractors who worked on this site live in the Sedgemoor area and, where possible, we sourced materials from local suppliers and joiners including Locks, Doors and Window Fittings, Electro South West and AG&R, who are all based in Bridgwater. The plywood and other materials for this project were provided by the Bridgwater branch of Bradfords Building Suppliers. Our proven supply chain also compliments our service by providing the best and most up to date advice and recommendations.

It is vitally important to have the correct installation for fire doors. Our supervisors are trained in the recognised methods and are fully audited to ensure we install fire doors to the highest required standard.

Being given the recognition of the Sedgemoor Chamber of Commerce means a great deal to us, as our main goal is to provide the highest quality to our customers, and this award is a direct result of our teams focus on quality and customer service, a big thanks goes to all the teams, and trades that have made this possible.

The business has grown over the 8+ years it has been trading and now employs a Management and Administrative team and has 40-50 sub-contractors working with us, delivering the fundamentals that the business was set up upon- Quality, delivered safely, on time and within budget
We offer the best quality trades in the area, ensuring works are completed to a very high standard, within budget, and within the time frames set by contractors. We have a good reputation with other trades, enabling the smooth running of projects.
We have completed many large projects including a housing developments and commercial projects within Bridgwater, a brand- new build for Somerset Energy Nuclear Centre, housing in Cannington and Cheddar and a milking parlour at Brymore School in Cannington, as well as many other jobs and projects in the area and across the South West.
Constructs South West recently completed a project working with Willmott Dixon for Bridgwater and Taunton College Cannington Campus. We completed the full carpentry package for a brand-new block of 67 en-suite bedrooms and several communal areas. Work included roof trusses, stairwells, cladding, kitchen fitting, fire door installations etc.
Supporting the local community and business- All the sub-contractors who worked on this site live locally. Local suppliers were used, including AG&R, Electro South West, and the Bridgwater and Taunton branches of Jewson. We have an environmental policy that has to be adhered to and timber products are always responsibly sourced.
We use local resources throughout the business, not only for the work and materials needed on site. All office-based staff live nearby, and we use local companies for office supplies, services and support.
Sub-contractors have regular toolbox talks and health and safety updates to ensure safe working. The company is Q-Mark Fire Door Installation registered and our Management gives regular internal training to each sub-contractor who installs doors. The business is a member of TRADA and SMAS, where we have to provide evidence to show that work is carried out to the highest and safest standards in order for membership to be renewed. Constructs South West is also a member of the Building Safety Group who are able to advise on all aspects of Health and Safety.
Q Mark Fully Compliant and Certified Fire Door Installers since 2015. In 2015 we identified the need to certify our compliant fire door fitting and haven’t looked back. We provide our customers advice on suppliers and their duties which in turn allows us to provide a full audit trail of the process.
It doesn’t stop there – Now that we have no this accolade under our belt, we will be raising the bar higher and striving to provide our customers the best in everything we do.
